2022 Update

Wow, its been a while. So its now 2022, Jensen is 2 and I’m pregnant with our second boy!

Firstly, I survived a full year and a half back at work. I was very lucky to have Jensen in my room with me up until his second birthday and now he’s moved up to the next room and he’s doing so well!

He’s started potty training which is going well, still in pullups for now as we have a construction site for the garden and carpet downstairs so I’m not risking it when we wouldn’t be able to afford replacing it. He is definitely going through the terrible twos at the moment, which is just what we need when I’m due to give birth in less than 2 weeks!

As I said above, our garden is a bit of a construction site as we’ve finally started to do up our garden after living here for 4 years. Our garden is fairly small, so we have a shed for our stuff and Jensen has a play shed filled with outdoor toys. Our plan is to build a patio and sloped garden with lots of grass for Jensen to have to himself, especially in the summer when I’ll be at home so he can happily play outside.

I’m hoping that because I’m back on maternity leave I’ll pick up blogging again, especially as it keeps my mind busy when I’m struggling to find motivation since being off work since the beginning of June and its now July!

Fingers crossed you hear from me again soon!

Back To Work

So I started back at work in January. I’m very lucky to have such a good group of people to work with, because when I went back after being sway for 11 months, they made it feel like I’d never left.

It was quite daunting to go back to work, especially during the pandemic, especially as a key worker. I was able to go back for a few meetings before returning to help reassure me and it was scary just to be in the building. I sat 2 feet away from my manager with my mask on and I was terrified.

When I went back for my first day I wore my mask again and stayed away from everyone for about half of the day. I cried when I got in but I couldn’t tell if it was because of my anxiety of being at work or being away from Jensen.

I called Chris the second I went onto lunch. I wanted to see how Jensen was doing without me. It turns out he was fine, which was hard to hear because it had been just the two of us for 10 months. He loves his daddy and I’m so glad, but I wished that he missed me more. Now he’s very much a mummy’s boy and I love it, but sometimes it can be too much 😅

I love my boy and I’m lucky to have him with me Thursdays and Fridays. I countdown every week until I can spend my days with him just the two of us (or at nursery together). Hes just growing up so fast, I wish he would just stay my little baby forever 💙

I hope you’re all well 💗

Hello Again!

So its been a very long time since I’ve written anything on this page 😅 things got away from me and this became something that got left behind.

A lot has happened since July as you can probably imagine. Jensen is now a cheeky little 1 year old! He is into everything, walking (almost running) and has started to say a few words. I can’t believe how much he’s changed in such a short time but I’m so proud of him.

I started back at work in January and I now work 4 days a week, having Fridays for just me and Jensen. He joins me and work on Thursdays and he loves it! He’s so cheeky when he’s there and acts like I’m not even there 😅 Chris is still furloughed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so he has Jensen on those days and then my dad has him on a Wednesday. He does surprisingly well behind thrown every which way 😂

We’re getting more used to being in this new routine and hopefully things will stay that way 😅

I’m sorry for being away for so long, and I hope I’ll be able to keep up with this a bit more now 💓

June Update

So it’s been a little while since I’ve posted an update on here! But between getting into the swing of things back at home by myself with Jensen and my phone being sent off for repair, I haven’t had much time to write anything.

So we’ve been home since the end of May and I’ve been getting used to being a stay at home mum by myself. It’s been a bit overwhelming sometimes, but it’s so much better now that he’s older and he has a routine. He’s such a chilled out baby but he has his days!

He’s learning how to sit up and does really well before he just flops down in the most graceful way 😂 He can grab things with more precision and will pull them to his mouth to chew. He’s teething like mad! He is constantly chewing anything he can get his hands on and dribbles so much. We used to be able to wear one outfit for a whole day, now we go through about 4 outfits in half a day 😅

I will admit that it’s getting more stressful and I have to take time for myself more. But it’s important for me to be able to calm myself before going back to a stressful situation, especially with a baby who can pick up on my mood.

He’s been staying awake a lot more during the day and finding ways to entertain him and stimulate his mind is proving difficult 😅 he has so many toys, but none that he shows interest in. Although he loves his space blanket and his new sit up chair

He’s due his last set of jabs before his 1st birthday and I’m hoping he doesn’t reach badly to them as I’ve heard bad things 😓

I hope you’re all doing well! Remember to stay safe 💚

10 Week Update

So I completely forgot to put an update up last week! But it was a bit of a busy week as we found out Chris is going to be going back to work and we made the decision to move back in with my parents for a few weeks. Before we get told off for not socially distancing, both our household and my parents household have been isolating for the entire lockdown and none of us have had any symptoms, so we felt that it wouldn’t put any of us at risk to move in together.

Chris goes back to work tomorrow and the thought of going from having him with me for 10 weeks, to not having him and being stuck inside by myself with a baby scared me. It made me feel very anxious and isolated and the option to move back was available so we took it. A benefit of being back here is that we can walk over to see Chris’ family for a bit and they live next to a big field so we can walk around there.

Jensen had a big milestone this week! He rolled over for the first time 😭

He’s such a chatty boy as well and he’s constantly talking to us and to random objects, like the lamp in my parents living room 😂

Being at my parents means that Jensen’s getting to interact with Alfie the dog. He’s started to watch him when he’s close by and Alfie is obsessed with him! He’s still a puppy, so we’re training him not to lick his face 😅 he has done really well and he’s starting to ignore him more now.

I hope your last few weeks have been good and remember to stay safe

Hi There Hello Fresh!

So during this lockdown, I wanted to broaden my cooking skills so we decided to order a Hello Fresh box.

It arrived on our doorstep and we received a text to notify us as well as the delivery driver waiting until we opened the door. I opened the box and inside were four bags, three containing particular ingredients for the three recipes we ordered, one containing the meats and a few other smaller ingredients.

We chose Prince Harry’s Chicken Pie, Sweet Chilli Beef, and Chicken, Red Wine Jus and Mushroom Stew. The first recipe we chose to cook was the chicken pie.

It comes with very straightforward instructions and even I, a very mediocre cook, was able to follow. I made a little video of me cooking

Me and Chris really enjoyed it! I’m not a fan of mushrooms at all and I usually pick them out, but I ate the whole thing 😁

We’re going to be trying the other two recipes tomorrow and Thursday so I’ll give an update at the end of the week with how they go.

I would highly recommend Hello Fresh and I will be continuing on with my subscription for the foreseeable future!

8 Week Update

I’m currently writing this as Jensen is tucked up in bed and all I can do is stare at him in complete awe. I still cannot believe that me and my husband created this beautiful human being. He is our beautiful angel boy and we are so proud to be his parents ❤

Jensen has changed so much in the last week. He can now hold his head up with only a few wobbles and he is so chatty! We call my mum up everyday using Google Duo and I’ll hold the phone up above Jensen using the forward facing camera so he can see the screen. After a few seconds, my mum will catch his attention and they talk and giggle to each other.

Both me and my mum are finding it really hard not being able to spend time together during Jensen’s newborn days, but I know that he’ll be so excited to see her when he gets the chance ❤

We’ve been quite busy this week doing some more projects and just trying to complete my hinch list that I made a week or so ago. We’ve sorted out our wardrobe and finally put away all of my pregnancy clothes as well as my winter clothes that I haven’t worn since last year 🙈

This wardrobe was full to burst! But we’ve put a lot of clothes into storage, so this is how it looks now!

I couldn’t part with my shoes, even though I can’t wear them at the moment, but I’m so happy with how this turned out and I’m ready to start my new room organising.

I’ve also picked up a new hobby, crocheting! After getting stuck in a YouTube spiral, I ended up watching crocheting tutorials and decided to buy some wool and hooks to give it a try. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but I’ve been loving it and I completed my first little square. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to make as I’m still learning, but there’s going to be a lot of little crochet squares for people in their Christmas presents this year 😂

I’m not looking forward to next week as we’ve got Jensen’s 8 week jabs booked 😭 thankfully Chris gets to come with me to the appointment because I don’t think I’d be able to cope with seeing my beautiful boy being so upset. Wish me luck that it all goes okay 🤞

Have a great week everyone ❤

7 Week Update

7. Whole. Weeks.

I cannot believe my tiny baby is seven weeks 😭 I’ve loved every second of it, but I wish it didn’t have to go so quickly. Over the last week you’ve been smiling so much more at your daddy and I’ve finally been seeing more consistent smiles when I talk to you ❤

When we do tummy time, your neck muscles are really working hard! Not long until you’ll be trying to sit up, and I’ll start crying that I’m losing my baby 😢

Everyday we watch baby sensory on YouTube. With this lockdown it’s not like we can go to a baby group to socialise and for Jensen to develop his skills, so we’re using the resources available to us. He loves to listen to the music and, as we watch black and white videos, we will stare at the screen for small amounts of time. We do watch one with fruits and his favourite is the pineapple!

We’ve been upgrading the garden, so Jensen’s been enjoying being in his buggy whilst we work outside. He loves to be in his buggy and usually has a nap when we go for walks. Its good that my dad’s so handy, because he’s been able to drop off tools for us to use so we don’t have to buy and wait around for things to be delivered.

I won’t be giving too much away about the garden project as it’s a bit of a surprise to us and to everyone else, but it’s in full swing now and hopefully will be done before the end of lockdown

6 Week Update

Jensen is six weeks old 😭

I can’t believe he’s been here for six weeks. It feels like he’s been here forever but he’s getting so big and it’s making me sad 😭 So much has happened since he was born and I’m sad that we can’t share it with our families.

Jensen can now hold his head up for short periods of time, but he’s not a big fan of tummy time. He now smiles at daddy and will chat to us a lot, mostly just before bed time. He loves cuddles with us and snuggles into our arms, which is adorable 😍 He’s starting to look at our faces when we talk now and I cannot wait for all the conversations we’re going to have together.

Yesterday was mine and Chris’ first wedding anniversary. Although we couldn’t spend it the way we wanted, we still got to spend time together with our boyo ❤ We made a cake and decorated it with the cake toppers from our wedding, it was very chocolatey and rich. We then went on our daily walk and came back to our friends kindly buying us takeaway for dinner.

Chris has started planning his next project – making garden furniture out of wooden pallets. He’s been measuring the garden for the last few days and I’ve been pinteresting to find the perfect one to suit our garden. I can’t wait to start sanding down and painting so we can finally have somewhere to sit in our garden. Hopefully it’ll be done ready for when lockdown is over and we can have people over ❤

House Proud

So one of the projects I’ve been wanting to do is sort out my front room. As it’s the main room in our house, it gets very messy and it’s all I seem to see 😓

So when Boyo was down for his morning nap, I started putting things in boxes and putting away washing that’s been sat on the table for days waiting to be sorted. I’ve had collectable pop figures on my shelves that we’ve been collecting for the last few years, but we decided to put them away in storage. The shelves now have a few memorable items in each cube, a more minimalist approach.

I then moved the table into a more central position so that all of the chairs are easily accessible. I then took out our plates that we brought when we first moved into our house, which are too big for our cupboard so it doesn’t shut properly, and displayed them on the table.

I then found a box of vanilla potpourri, that I’ve been waiting to use, and put it on a display plate, it smells amazing! I feel so much more proud of the house that I live in and I cannot wait to be able to share it with my friends and family when this lockdown is finally over.

Another project that Chris started was making a outdoor bin area to clear out our outdoor cupboard. He used the old trellis from our broken fence and measured it out to fit in our little garden, then attached it to the porch post. We plan on changing the stones to plum slate to match the other front gardens in our cul-de-sac, then painting the wood white to match the porch.

We’ve moved the recycling bins out and we’re going to buy an outside bin for our blue bin bags to go into, as, since having a baby, we have a lot more going into our bags!

I’ll keep you all updated on any other projects we plan on doing!
